Dentistry in Croatia
Why are Croatian dentists highly regarded?
Croatian dentists enjoy a strong reputation among both patients and colleagues abroad. This reflects the quality of their education, extensive clinical experience and continuous professional development. Dental medicine degree programmes in Croatia last six years and include comprehensive theoretical and practical training, giving future dentists a solid foundation for clinical practice.
Over recent decades, the growth of dental tourism has also enabled clinics like Dentvitalis to gain experience in treating large numbers of patients across a wide range of clinical cases. This experience is particularly valuable in complex treatments, oral surgery and implantology, where the dentist’s knowledge and experience play a crucial role in treatment planning and delivery.
What should you consider when choosing a dental clinic?
Choosing a clinic to entrust with your oral health is an important decision, especially when treatment involves a major procedure or travelling from another city or country. To make an informed choice, consider the experience of the clinic and its dentists, the quality of the materials and technology used, the experiences of other patients, and the transparency and availability of your medical documentation.
Before making a decision, check how long the clinic has been established and how much experience it has with the type of treatment you require. It is also worth reading patient reviews on Google, as these can provide valuable insight into patients’ experiences of the treatment, the staff, and their overall stay at the clinic.
It is equally important to receive clear and complete documentation after treatment, including details of the procedures carried out, the materials used, and any implants placed. This documentation is not only important today – it can also prove valuable years later if you require a check-up, repair, or further treatment.
Whether you are travelling from elsewhere in Croatia or from another country, price should not be the only consideration. Experience, expertise, quality, transparency and patient recommendations are far more important when choosing a clinic to entrust with your health.
What are the advantages of receiving treatment in the EU?
As an EU Member State, Croatia applies the European regulatory framework governing medical devices, including requirements relating to safety, quality and traceability.
When considering treatment outside the EU, it is worth checking which regulations apply to the materials and medical devices used and whether you will receive documentation clearly identifying their manufacturer, origin and conformity.
It is equally important to know in advance what the guarantee covers, how long it lasts and who you can contact if a problem arises after treatment. A clear written guarantee provides greater reassurance and ensures that patients understand their rights and obligations.
Therefore, when choosing a clinic, do not consider the treatment price alone. The quality of the materials, the expertise of the dentists, documentation, guarantees and access to long-term support are all important for lasting satisfaction with your treatment.
A guide to Dentvitalis
How much does a dental implant cost?
The price of one implant starts from € 249. It is important to remember, however, that the implant itself is only part of the complete prosthetic restoration. The implant is placed in the bone, and an abutment is then attached to it to connect the implant to the crown.
The final cost depends on the type of abutment and crown selected. An individual treatment plan is therefore required to determine the total cost.

How much does a dental crown cost?
The price of a single crown starts at € 220.
Which implant systems does Dentvitalis use?
We use implant systems from Nobel Biocare, Straumann and JDentalCare, manufactured in Italy.
If you already have Astra Tech, Bredent, Dentium, Sweden & Martina, PHI, 3i, Ankylos or Brånemark implants, we may be able to place additional implants where required or, if compatible components are available, produce a new prosthetic restoration using your existing implants.
Can each implant have an individual crown, or do the crowns have to be joined to form a bridge?
The crowns do not necessarily need to be joined together into a bridge. Where the anatomy and treatment plan allow, each implant can support an individual crown, creating a very natural appearance and the feel of separate teeth.
Another option is a Malo bridge, which is supported by implants and provides a stable framework onto which each individual crown is cemented separately. This allows the crowns to look and function like individual teeth while benefiting from the stability of an implant-supported prosthetic structure.
The most appropriate option for you will depend on the number and position of the implants, the amount of available bone, your bite, aesthetic requirements and your individual treatment plan.
Zirconia or ceramic crown – what is the difference?
A zirconia crown is made from zirconium oxide, a material known for its exceptional strength, resistance to fracture, and durability. Its mechanical resistance makes it particularly suitable for posterior teeth, which are exposed to greater chewing forces. Modern zirconia crowns can also achieve a very natural appearance and, where required, can be layered with ceramic for enhanced aesthetics.
A ceramic crown is made entirely from ceramic and offers excellent aesthetics. Its natural translucency and ability to closely reproduce the colour and appearance of a natural tooth make it particularly suitable for front teeth, where aesthetics are especially important.
In short, zirconia offers exceptional strength and durability, while ceramic is particularly valued for its aesthetics and a natural appearance. The best material for you will depend on the position of the tooth, the forces it is subjected to, your aesthetic requirements, and your individual treatment plan.
